New Security Screening
Posted by:Greg Wilson, June - 12 - 2016

For Government Employees:

A new government policy has been created that will apply to almost every new hire of any federal department or agency, as well as any current employees who renew or change their security clearance status. This is a change that has been instituted to ensure fair and consistent screening practices. The new screening process will consist of a credit check, fingerprint-based RCMP certified criminal background check, and a screening of one’s social media. Orenex has created software called Security Information System Fingerprints (SIS Fingerprints.) This software is integral in the RCMP Criminal Background Screening procedure, and has been used to submit countless applications. SIS Fingerprints allows one to create an electronic application on behalf of a customer, complete with all the necessary information required by the RCMP specification. The software allows for submission of all different types of applications, from pardons to employment, or even a name change.

The RCMP has moved away from paper submissions, and will refuse to process them. This includes the third-party consent forms that many agencies and businesses that are still completing. Fortunately, SIS Fingerprint has support for a biometric consent, which is the preferred method of providing consent to release criminal background check results to a third-party. A biometric consent is a digital imprint of an individual’s finger, typically the right thumb. Once the individual’s application has been completed and submitted, The RCMP will have access to it immediately. There’s no faster way to submit, and using our software allows one to assure their customers that there is no quicker alternative. Once submitted, SIS Fingerprint has a feature that can confirm successful delivery of an application to the RCMP, and provide peace of mind and assurance to you and your client.

Reliability Screening Solutions Inc. is one of the many companies currently using our software for this purpose. They serve countless Canadians located at home, or abroad. One of the reasons they chose to deploy our software was because of its ability to scale with their operation. No matter the increasing number of applications they enter, our software is always able to organize, catalogue, and successfully submit each and every application they file in a quick and reliable manner.

Version is the latest iteration of our widely used and feature rich software program, Security Information System (SIS). SIS provides our customers a master security database used to facilitate:

•     Personnel Security Screening (one of our most popular applications)
•     Roles & Privileges Management for Employees and Contractors
•     Rapid High Integrity Visitor Management
•     Identity Verification & Access Management
•     ID Production & Pass Management
•     Parking Administration & Enforcement
•     Security Container Access Management
•     Security Incidence Investigation
•     Emergency Response/Disaster Recovery

We have a comprehensive brochure and detailed documentation that lists all the capabilities of our software in detail, but for the purpose of this post, we will be taking a closer look at Personnel Security Screening.

Our SIS Fingerprint software allows us to digitally submit Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) Checks, Declarations, and RCMP Fingerprint-based background checks for Canadians at home or abroad for various application types. Individuals have their information entered into our software, which allows for efficient recordkeeping of an individual’s application, as well as provides proof of successful submission of the prints to the RCMP. Applications can be made for every application requirement mandated by the RCMP, allowing our clients to meet all of their customer’s unique needs. One major advantage of the aforementioned proof of successful submission is the peace of mind it can give a customer. Whether they are applying for a pardon, to obtain a foreign visa, or even to adopt, the assurance that their application was successfully received by the RCMP is priceless. Far too many applications submitted by non-digital methods can end up being lost, or fail to be delivered at all. Separate yourself from the competition by being better; being better means having the right tools for the job.
